On September 18, 10 Edmonton MC College graduates from the Fashion Design program showcased their clothing collection at the New Designers Fashion Show, as part of Western Canada Fashion Week. Every student was required to design and produce 8 complete outfits. The show, held at The ATB Financial Arts Barn, was sold out to an audience of family, friends and members of Edmonton’s fashion industry.
In attendance were Joe Cairo (President of MC College), Nicole Campre (MC College alumni, Fashion Designer), Jelena Bojic (Marketing Director at Kingsway Mall), Curtis Greenland (Director of Education at Pixel Blue College), and Kyla Kaziel, Stacey Boruk and Suzy Kenny, the fashionistas from Bamboo Ballroom, and many more!!
The sound of electric guitars echoed throughout the event space as models showcased the first collection. Before each show, a video montage of the new designers, created by Pixel Blue, were displayed.

Carrie Bradshaw inspired tulle skirts, structured blazers and leather high-waisted skirts were a few of the clothing pieces that were featured in the show.
The graduates found inspiration for their collections from many facets including their cultural backgrounds, life experiences, music and even the science fiction movie staring Arnold Scwarzenegger, ‘Predator’.
While models strutted across the runway, 6 Beauty Apprentices were backstage assisting with hair, make-up and wardrobe styling. As part of MC College’s initiative, Beauty Apprentice, over 100 Edmonton and surrounding High School students applied to volunteer behind the scenes at Western Canada Fashion Week.
