Edmonton New Designers Fashion Show 2015: Recap

Last month, Edmonton’s Fashion scene lit up as our New Designers Fashion Show launched Alberta’s largest fashion event: Western Canada Fashion Week. From local fashion bloggers and media to proud family and friends, our show was sold out to a crowd of over 300 people at the ATB Financial Arts Barn.

The show included collections from graduates of our Edmonton Fashion Design and Apparel Production program: Lexie Cunningham, Angela McGill, Kendra Evertson, Helen Cavell, Nicole Kluthe, Valerie Smith, Taryn Szautner and Amanda Vaisanen. After a year of blood, sweat and tears, they premiered their best of the best: eight complete outfits; all designed and produced by each graduate.

Throughout the rehearsal and finale show, Claire Hanna from CityTV’s Dinner TV did live interviews with MC College staff and students. Missed the show? You can view the interviews here: Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Throughout the twelve month Fashion Design and Apparel Production program, the graduates learned the skills to create quality garments and gain business skills from MC College Fashion Instructors, Alisha Schick of Suka Clothing and Courtney Proctor.

As part of our Beauty Apprentice program, we had four students from St Joseph Composite High School in our behind the scenes crew (hair, make up and wardrobe styling). Over 100 High School students applied to take part in this program.
