Image

Just like our skin, your teeth can age over the years. Did you know that surface stains can be caused by the following?

  • Drinking coffee, tea, red wine, sodas
  • Tobacco
  • Accumulation of plaque and tartar
  • Eating highly pigmented foods such as blueberries and cherries
  • Antibiotics: tetracycline and doxycycline

We all want a whiter, brighter and younger smile-last year, 10 million Canadians spent over 1.7 billion dollars on teeth whitening products. Why spend thousands of dollars at the dental office and on over-the-counter remedies when you can make you own!

What you’ll need:

  • Toothpaste
  • Baking soda
  • Hydrogen peroxide- available at your location drug store
  • Water
  • Toothbrush

Directions:

  1. In a small cup, place a dime sized amount of toothpaste.
  2. Mix in 1 teaspoon of baking soda and ½ teaspoon of water.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide.
  4. Stir the mixture.
  5. Use your toothbrush and the mixture to brush your teeth for 2 minutes

To achieve maximum results, repeat steps 1-5 2 times a week. Once you start to see results, use the mixture once a month.

Beauty Tips with Dawn Marie

Did you know? Wasabi is not only delicious on sushi, but is also healthy for your skin.  Wasabi creates natural effects as an antimicrobial agent, anti-inflammatory and a skin purifier.  Here is a simple recipe to achieve healthier looking skin.

Wasabi Massage Oil:

Combine ¼ cup vegetable oil and ¼ cup light sesame oil in a small saucepan. Heat on low for 2 to 3 minutes or until warm but NOT boiling or smoking. Immediately remove from heat and stir in ½ tsp wasabi paste. Be sure to use a wooden spoon as plastic can leach out chemicals. Cover and let cool for at least 1 hour. Add 5 drops of vitamin E oil.

Rub the oil on back, arms, chest and neck for moisture to create a glowing skin.  The wasabi in the massage oil helps eliminate any bacteria from building up that may be caught under the skin.

Don’t restrict your hair cut to having only one styling option, instead opt for a cut that is versatile and can be worn both curly and straight. Your styling decisions most often will depend on your mood, occasion and how much time you are willing to spend on it.
