Corine Sim Colk Headshot

Who is she?
Corine graduated from the Hairstyling Program at the Red Deer Campus in 1992. Since then, she has become a:

• business owner of Safari Salon and Spa, and Green Apple Hair Salon
• Co-owner and shareholder of several Chatters Salon franchise locations.
• Co-founder of Tommy Gun’s Original Barber.

Why MC College?
Prior to starting a career in the beauty industry, Corine attended University where she completed a Bachelor of Education and Arts degree. With a family owned salon and no Hairstylists in the family, she decided to enroll in a Hairstyling program. MC College Red Deer was the right place for her as it offered everything that she was looking for: good reputation, hands on education and a fun environment.

Looking back, Corine attributes her passion, perseverance and education for her success. Throughout her 22 years as an entrepreneur and a hairstylist, she has experienced firsthand the growth of the industry and the expansion of career options available to esthetics and hairstyling graduates.
Advice from an alumni:
“Be like a sponge- attend as much education as you can, do everything and take it all in. Never doubt your career choice, work hard and work Saturdays…and… Always be grateful. Grateful is the new Black.”.

In addition to being an owner of multi-unit salons, she is the Senior Executive of Marketing and Branding at Chatters Canada LTD. From managing Chatters’ National advertising funds to arranging stylist education, her biggest lesson learned is the importance of hard work (that includes working Saturdays!), and the value of employees and co workers.
