Student blogger: My #beautyabroad experience in London and Dublin!

londonBetween October 6th and 14th 2014, we packed our bags and passport, and jet setted across the Atlantic Ocean to London and Dublin. From devouring Irish and British cuisine (bangers and mash, marmite, Yorkshire pudding etc) to historical architecture and the Alternative Hair Show, this was a once in a life time experience that we’ll never forget!

We caught up with Abbie M, a MC College Hairstyling student who was on the trip with us. Here’s what she had to say about her beauty abroad experience:

Why did you decide to go on the trip?

I’ve always loved travelling but I’ve never been to Europe. When I saw a poster promoting the trip, I thought it was a good way and perfect timing for me to travel there.

What did you do in Dublin and London?

A little bit of everything- sight seeing, eating, learning, and shopping! We went on a sight seeing tour of castles, historical land marks, and famous pubs. We saw the Salon International Show and visited the Pivot Point Academy. At the school, Joakim Roos and Yolly Ten Koppel showed us new cutting techniques. We also went on the world’s largest ferry to get from Dublin to London. From there, we went on a double decker tour of London. There was so much to see and do! One of the cool parts about the trip was that we travelled with hair students from around the world.

What was your favorite part of the trip?

We did so much on the trip, it’s hard to choose! My top 3 would be: the Guinness Brewery, exploring the castles and grounds of Malahide Castle, and finally seeing Buckingham Palace in person. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry or the Queen but seeing the royal guards was close enough!

What did you learn during the trip?

The hair at the Salon International Show has given me a few ideas for my unit 4 photo shoot. I’ve also been practicing the new cutting techniques that I learned. I can’t wait to see where the next trip will be!!

Our next Beauty Abroad trip is to……………………..Barcelona!! Stay tuned for more info 🙂
